An experienced professional will engage in a healthy, trusting relationship with a student. The mentor will share career guidance in their field of expertise and provide helpful tips on how to be successful in starting a career.
Participate in one-on-one meetings at the industry professional’s place of business to gain a realistic view of the profession
Be open to learning about expectations and etiquette in the workplace
Establish a trusting relationship with the mentor and be willing to actively listen
Be open to hearing constructive and meaningful feedback from the industry professional
Be willing to attend industry-related events if invited by the industry professional
Complete and submit a mentoring evaluation to SCC at the completion of your experience

Meet with a career counselor to complete your job shadow orientation and obtain contact information for your job shadow experience
For each job shadowing experience, there are three options:
Small group of students (2-4)
Large group of students (5-8)
Minimum requirement: Meet with mentor one hour per month for four months.
